This role is primarily a technology planning and design role.  The incumbent has two main objectives which focus on ‘now’ and ‘future’ respectively:

a)  Now - Ensuring that Company X staff and its customers can best utilise current state technology to solve business problems

b)  Future - Ensuring that the future technology state meets known and anticipated requirements and there is a clear plan to achieve the target state

The role has a strong focus on the future technology state (target technology architecture) and the optimal roadmap, standards and policies to achieve the target state.  However it also supports and advises other Company X staff and business stakeholders in relation to current state technology architecture.

Key outputs from this role are the frameworks, plans, designs, standards, patterns, and policies which are used by Solution Architects to construct solutions for ‘today’s’ business problems.  Technology Architects may also act in the Solution Architect role to design solutions for Company X systems or new components for customer solutions.

This role is a senior technical role within the Company X organisation in which the incumbent is expected to competently work across many areas of technology rather than having a specific technology specialisation.  However, the incumbent must regularly work closely with other technology specialists to construct and validate plans and designs.

The incumbent will be required to support several ICT infrastructure transformation projects that will deliver the business outcomes of Company X, as defined by the Company X Business Plan.

The incumbent will be required to work along-side other Company X staff in customer facing situations to assist customers in aligning their plans with the Company X technology architecture, and understand new business requirements requiring technology solutions.
